Instrumental Duet Flute,Harp,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - SKU: A0.502638 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Arranged by Karen Almquist, Edited by Jennifer Grady. Classical,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 4 pages. HarpSong, Jennifer Grady and Karen Almquist #114989. Published by HarpSong, Jennifer Grady and Karen Almquist (A0.502638). “Goin Home” is a peaceful and moving flute and harp arrangement of Antonin Dvorak’s magnificent Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” 2nd Movement. The arrangement in Eb begins and ends quietly in the lower register of the instruments. The flute introduces the melody over quiet eighth note arpeggios on the harp. The harp plays the melody in the second verse. “Goin Home” builds to a glorious ending with an uplifting harp glissando, full rolled chords and flute soaring in its high register. The music is full of emotion and hope. William Arms Fisher a student of Dvorak penned the moving lyrics “Goin Home” to the music. Goin' home. Goin' home. I'm a-goin' home. Quiet-like some still day, I'm just goin' home. It's not far, just close by, through an open door. Work all done, cares laid by, goin' to roam no more; Mother's there 'xpecting me, father's waiting, too, Lots of folks gathered there, all the friends I knew. Morning star lights the way, restless dream all done. Shadows gone, break of day, real life just begun. There's no break, there's no end, just a-living on; Wide awake, with a smile, going on and on. Going home. Going home, I'm just going home. It's not far, just close by, through an open door.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - SKU: A0.596539 Composed by Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score. 7 pages. Juan Maria Solare #3880115. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596539). Listen: https://soundcloud.com/juan-maria-solare/ausenteAusente (Abstent) is an atonal milonga. If Franz Liszt composed a Bagatelle without tonality, why not a milonga without tonality. This piece is placed somewhere between classical music and new tango. Moderator Louis Barabbas wrote about Ausente for the BBC blog Fresh On The Net nr. 305 (19 November 2018), http://freshonthenet.co.uk/2018/11/faves305 Described as 'somewhere between classical music and new tango' the artist’s phrasing here is telling: somewhere rather than something. For in Juan Maria Solare’s Ausente (absent) we are certainly transported. Each angular phrase jutting up like stone columns or distended stalactites in a limey cave. The trickling thrust of its furtive intent feels somehow elemental yet focused through an urban noir prism, drops of heavy water in varying temperatures, some icicles and some steam, shards of smoky light poking around slow moving fan blades and between the rusty teeth of ancient window grills, monstrous warped shadows cast up from humble orphaned minutiae. Music as beautiful and unsettling as it is hard to dance to. The idea of dancing this piece was a surprise for me, since tango music doesn't need to be danced to (you can also just listen to it). But if you wonder how this tango would appear danced, imagine it is not called tango but contemporary ballet rooted in tango - and suddenly you find ways of dancing it... provided an open-minded choreographer is on board! If someone wants to dance this music in the style of the tango of 1920, they will have a hard time. It would be like trying to dance Strawinsky's Le Sacre du printemps as if it were the Blue Danube Waltz. Juan María Solare http://www.JuanMariaSolare.com

Piano Trio,String Ensemble - SKU: A0.1004151 Composed by Matthew Scott Phillips. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 9 pages. Matthew Scott Phillips #3510887. Published by Matthew Scott Phillips (A0.1004151). Throughout the centuries, sundials (a flat plate that marks the time of the day by the shadow of a gnomon which is cast onto it) have been used by civilizations to tell time. Unlike modern clocks and digital watches, in which every single second has its own momentary significance, telling time by sundial is more evolutionary. The seconds, and hours, melt into one another. It is perhaps for this reason that sundials have often been conceived not only as practical time pieces, but as works of art, metaphors, and creations that are inherent expressions of the personality of their creators. Etched in many sundials across the world, in Latin, English, German, and other languages are often found mottoes that reflect the thoughts of the sundial's creator. These mottoes can be fatalistic, humorous, transient, morbid, or serene, and almost always involve the subjects of time, the passing of the hours, life and its brevity, or metaphors involving shadows. Many times these mottoes feature some witticism, such as I only count the sunny hours (since a shadow must be present for a sundial to function). Other times, they can be revealingly existential (We are but shadow), and other times offer advice (Use the hours, don't count them). It is these statements of philosophy, etched in sundials throughout the centuries, that most interests me. I am currently composing a set of movements for piano trio (Piano, Violin, Cello) dedicated to the mottoes found on sundials, and their significance to me. The first movement, subtitled Tempus Edax Rerum (Time devours things) is expansive and attempts a feeling of eternity, into which all seemingly fast moving workings of human beings are inevitably subsumed. For the second movement I am considering the phrase Pereunt et Imputantur (They pass and are counted referring to the hours of the day), and its implication of the way in which time can slip away, whether we observe it or not.
